Youth Benefits Within Wu Shen Pai Training
Saturday, August 10, 2013
There are many benefits for youth that train in Wu Shen Pai at WSMAA! These are just some of them! Black Sash parenting involves catching the vision for what our training program at WSMAA will accomplish for your child! The development of life skills is why we are an Elite Training Academy!
Fostering Self-Discipline – One of the central tenets of Wu Shen Pai is an absolute focus on self-discipline. Today’s kids are so accustomed to receiving instant gratification that lessons in self-restraint and discipline aren’t always easy to come by. Kids at Warrior Spirit Martial Arts Academy, however, are continually reminded of how essential self-discipline is. This emphasis on discipline leads to self discipline and initiative. Personal responsibility is also an element of training in our Academy!
Boosting Socialization Skills – Kids who don’t always thrive in highly social environments may find it easier to get to know people and make new friends when they’re in a room filled with peers who share a common interest. The kids on the playground may not always have much common ground, but students at WSMAA are able to get to know one another through shared pursuits...their shared interest in Wu Shen Pai. They are part of one family with Gung Fu brothers and sisters. Wu Shen Pai can be partner-driven at times and this can also foster camaraderie, as they force kids to pair off and build their skills together.
Encouraging Physical Activity – Limiting screen time is a great idea when it comes to getting kids off the couch and encouraging them to be more active, but it only goes so far. Enrolling an inactive child in such a physically demanding pastime not only discourages the sedentary lifestyle they are used to, but also gives them an enjoyable activity that inspires them to keep moving and stay healthy. Training in Wu Shen Pai also has a cardio-vascular element. Consistent training in Wu Shen Pai will build lung capacity and alleviate and eliminate in most cases conditions such as asthma.
Learning to Set and Achieve Goals – Wu Shen Pai is based around an accomplishment system of colored belts that signify the wearer’s degree of skill. When your child strives toward each new sash, they are learning valuable lessons about setting and reaching his goals.
Increased Self-Esteem – Confidence comes with achievement, so your child’s self-esteem level will get a boost with every new move he masters and every sash your child earns. Kids who struggle with a low sense of self-worth usually become more confident as time progresses while they’re enrolled at WSMAA. This is particularly true of our Academy since achievement in Wu Shen Pai is genuinely challenging!
Instilling a Sense of Respect – Learning Wu Shen Pai at WSMAA will require your child to show the instructors unflinching respect. Today’s kid culture doesn’t always include respect for authority, adults or those in advanced positions. When your child goes to class at WSMAA, your child will be learning lessons in respect along with new movements.
Encouraging Non-Violent Conflict Resolution – Thinking that Wu Shen Pai instruction promotes violent behavior is justified if your only experience with the activity comes from television or movies. In fact, our system teaches valuable defensive skills which encourage children to respect others and seek peaceful, non-violent conflict resolution. Training at WSMAA emphasizes the importance of avoiding a physical altercation. The extremely effective self defense training provided at WSMAA is to be used only as a last resort in self protection.
Improving Listening Skills – In order to master the skills your child is being taught at WSMAA and to advance through the belt and sash ranks of Wu Shen Pai, your child will have to exercise superior listening skills. Kids who aren’t always adept when it comes to paying attention to what they’re told can benefit from the verbal instruction and one-on-one work in our Elite Training Academy.
Developing Teamwork Skills – Whether your child is practicing repetition of a form or technique to earn a new sash level or sparring in a practice setting to master a new maneuver, there are few things that your child does in Wu Shen Pai classes that will be done on their own. Working together to learn new things and accomplish goals is an important life lesson for kids to learn, and instruction in Wu Shen Pai can help your child learn that lesson.
Improvement in Other Areas of Life – The benefits of Wu Shen Pai training don’t end in the Kwoon or the school. The boost in confidence, increased fitness level and new cooperation skills will also help your child navigate the academic and social aspects of school, affect his behavior at home and have an all-around good influence on him as your child develops into an adult.
